A Leading Pico Laser Machine
The PicoStar® is a professional pico laser machine built for tattoo removal, pigmentation, fractional skin treatment and scar work. It’s an Nd:YAG platform running both 1064 nm and 532 nm, with pulses under 300 ps, maximum pulse energy of 800 mJ and 2.7 GW peak power (the highest peak power of any picosecond system in its class).
Clinics configure the system around four handpieces, from precise pigment work at 2 mm through to large-area treatment at 16 mm, including a fractional MicroSpot array for resurfacing. Spot size on the Zoom ST adjusts by rotating a ring on the handpiece, so there’s no tip change mid-treatment.
Every PicoStar® supplied in the UK includes Asclepion Academy training, ongoing clinical and technical support from our London team and a two-year warranty as part of the A-List Package.

A YouGov survey found that 28% of British adults have at least one tattoo and around one in seven of them regret at least one. Tattoo removal demand has followed and picosecond systems are now what patients expect a clinic to be running.
Picosecond laser tattoo removal can simplify and speed up the procedure for both patients and practitioners.
PicoStar® Picosecond
Laser Treatments
The PicoStar® uses a dual-wavelength Nd:YAG platform, enabling it to provide effective treatment for a wide variety of conditions. The PicoStar® delivers high pulse energy combined with ultra-short pulses of under 300 picoseconds. A 10.1″ touchscreen display gives practitioners full control of the PicoStar® at all stages of treatment.

Pigmentation Removal
The PicoStar® pico laser can be used to break down skin pigmentation, including melasma. The PicoStar’s picosecond pulses break pigmentation into the smallest fractions for thorough reduction.

Scar Reduction
Pico laser technology combined with the highest power output generates powerful pulses at a duration of less than 300 picoseconds. Because the pulse is measured in picoseconds rather than nanoseconds, energy is delivered photomechanically, with limited thermal spread into the surrounding tissue.

Skin Rejuvenation
The PicoStar® provides a range of treatments, including melasma removal, wrinkle reduction and skin rejuvenation laser treatments. Intuitive pico laser control allows the user to fine-tune the system to deliver the exact laser output to suit the patient and the treatment being completed.

Tattoo Removal
Dual pico laser wavelength options give the flexibility to create bespoke treatments that precisely match each patient’s needs. The PicoStar® effectively targets a wide spectrum of pigment colours, from dark inks to challenging shades like blue and red. Its intelligent, pre-defined settings allow for quick and convenient adjustments to the laser output whenever needed.

PicoStar® Handpieces and Spot Sizes
Four handpieces give the PicoStar® its range. The Zoom ST is included as standard; the Flat-Top and MicroSpot handpieces are available as optional accessories, so the system can be specified around what your clinic actually treats.
The Zoom ST is ergonomic, thin and light, built from premium-grade stainless steel for easy handling and cleaning. A rotating ring on the handpiece adjusts spot size without changing the handpiece or the tip, so a practitioner can move between larger and smaller areas mid-treatment.
- Zoom ST – 2 to 5 mm, adjustable, included as standard
- Flat-Top 532 – 3 mm or 5 mm
- Flat-Top 1064 – 10 mm or 16 mm
- MicroSpot PICO – 64 individual spots across a 7 × 7 mm area at 1064 nm
The Flat-Top handpieces use automatic spot recognition, so the system registers which tip is fitted and adjusts accordingly.

The Benefits of
Picosecond Laser
The PicoStar® laser system adopts the latest “Pico Laser” emission techniques. This allows the system to provide extremely high levels of energy through very short pulses. That allows more of the pigment breakdown to happen photomechanically rather than thermally, which is the mechanism nanosecond systems can’t reproduce.
Immersive
User Interface
Take control of your work thanks to the intuitive user interface featured in the PicoStar® system. Interact with the device through the crystal-clear 10.1″ LCD touchscreen display, which allows you to make precise changes to the way you work with ease. It features beginner-friendly modes that assign recommended parameters to the selected treatment.
Experts will have the option to go directly to the working screen and configure the parameters themselves. The live display shows the treatment time or pulse rate in real time.

Why Clinics Choose the PicoStar® Pico Laser Machine
Investing in a pico laser machine is a significant decision for any clinic. The PicoStar® stands out for UK practitioners for various reasons:
- Multi-indication versatility: One pico laser machine treats tattoo removal, pigmentation, melasma, acne scarring and skin rejuvenation, expanding your treatment menu from a single device.
- Premium German engineering: Manufactured by Asclepion Laser Technologies in Jena, with roots in Carl Zeiss laser development going back to the 1970s.
- Treats across Fitzpatrick I–VI: With appropriate parameter selection, including darker skin tones, where the photomechanical action of picosecond pulses reduces the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
- Comprehensive training included: Every PicoStar® comes with Asclepion Academy training and ongoing clinical support.
- 2-year warranty as standard: Part of the Asclepion A-List Package, giving you long-term peace of mind about your investment.
- UK-based servicing & support: Clinical and technical support from the Asclepion UK team in London.
How the PicoStar® Compares With PicoSure® and PicoWay®
The three leading picosecond platforms take different routes to the same set of indications. PicoStar® concentrates power into two wavelengths, prioritising peak power and pulse energy at 1064 nm and 532 nm. PicoSure® Pro builds around 755 nm. PicoWay® spreads across four wavelengths at lower energy per pulse.
Which of those matters most depends on your treatment mix and particularly on how much of your work is tattoo removal against rejuvenation. We’ve compared all three against current published manufacturer specifications, covering wavelengths, handpieces, pulse energy and realistic session times.

Clinical Research:
Picosecond Skin Rejuvenation
A peer-reviewed study published in Lasers in Medical Science examined the biological mechanisms behind fractional picosecond laser treatment using a standardised 3D human skin model.
Research identified that fractional 1064 nm picosecond energy can create controlled micro-disruptions within the epidermis, activating measurable repair and tissue remodelling signals at a molecular level, including upregulation of multiple collagens and healing markers.
For clinics offering pico rejuvenation, this kind of independent research provides a stronger, more credible foundation for patient consultations and treatment positioning.
