Vulvovaginal Atrophy (VVA):

Vaginal Atrophy describes a number of different vaginal symptoms including dryness, itchiness, pain during intercourse, reduced libido as well as elasticity and vaginal tension. About 10-40% of post-menopausal women experience these symptoms due to oestrogen deficiency and consequently suffer from vaginal paraesthesia amongst other issues if vaginal atrophy is left untreated.

Mild Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI):

Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) describes the involuntary leakage of urine caused by coughing, sneezing or physical exertion. This is often due to reduced stability of the connective tissue and is common amongst 24-29% of women after their first childbirth as well as among women in menopause. Reduced collagen production within the connective tissue, leads to insufficient support of the urogenital tract.

Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM):

Caused by hormone deficiency after menopause, GSM is a combination of multiple symptoms such as vaginal dryness, burning, and paraesthesia as well as urinary urgency, dysuria and repeated bladder infections. An estimated one in two menopausal women suffers from chronic GSM.

Loss of Elasticity and Tonicity (Descensus Vaginae):

Due to childbirth, heavy physical work, ageing processes and hormone deficiencies, a slackening of the pelvic floor tissue leads to a bulging of the vaginal walls. This descensus of the vagina directly relates to reduced friction during sexual intercourse leading to a decrease or loss of sexual satisfaction.

Mode Of Action

The Juliet feminine laser offers a minimally invasive treatment to improve symptoms of vaginal atrophy. Stimulating collagen production within the connective tissue of the lamina propria, the second layer of the inner vagina wall, leads to an improved vaginal lining as well as toned pelvic muscles. This helps the inner lining, the epithelium layer, regenerate and become thicker as well as more elastic and moist again. The regeneration of the connective tissue leads to improved urethral closure and better blood circulation resulting in better intimacy experiences amongst other benefits. After the treatment, many women report further improvements within the first few months.

Two-Phase Treatment Concept with the Steri-Spot:

The Juliet treatment concept consists of two consecutive phases to provide effective and long-lasting results. In the first step, the ablative phase (Juliet C mode), the laser drills tiny channels into the surface layer of the vagina. In the immediately followed second phase, the thermal phase (Juliet W mode), collagen neogenesis is stimulated by the laser’s heat reaching the collagen fibres in the lamina propria. The Steri-Spot handpiece allows for maximum precision during treatment and comes with a single-use cover guaranteeing hygiene and safety for every patient.

Vulva Vestibule and Condyloma Treatment:

Along with the Juliet, the vulval vestibule and introitus can be treated with the MicroSpot handpiece using the single-spot method. Depending on your patient’s severity of the condition the treatment needs 1 to 3 runs. With the VarioSpot handpiece, a two-phase treatment concept can be carried out to treat Condylomas (genital warts).

Pre- and Post-Treatment:

Before any treatment, inclusion criteria such as normal cell cytology, negative urine culture and the treatment area being free of injuries and bleeding need to be considered. The treatment should not be carried out if the patient’s pregnant, suffers from active or recent urogenital tract infection, takes drugs or substances that increase photosensitivity or has severe stress incontinence with severe prolapse amongst other exclusion criteria. Immediately before the laser treatment, the patient’s vagina needs to be cleaned with a disinfectant and dried carefully. Due to the minimally invasive laser procedure, no special post-op therapy is required apart from no sexual intercourse for 72 hours after each treatment session.
